It's permissible to leave your home to avoid child abuse or domestic violence
One of the concerns during the Shelter-in-Place Order has been the safety and wellbeing of children and individuals affected by domestic violence.
On March 31, 2020, Santa Clara County passed a new Order that modified its previous orders. This order extends the shelter in place requirements through 11:59 p.m. on May 3, 2020 and adds new restrictions. The order also specifically adds the reasons people are allowed to leave their home as itemized below:
Attend a funeral with no more than 10 individuals present.
Manage after-death arrangements and burial.
Arrange for shelter or avoid homelessness.
Avoid domestic violence or child abuse.
Travel for parental custody arrangements.
Travel to a temporary residence to avoid exposing others to COVID-19.
